AI’s Blind Spot

AI will hit women hardest in the workforce. Why? Well, there are several reasons. Biased data, of course, is definitely a problem, but even more important is the lack of diversity among the people building the technology. According to the World Economic Forum and LinkedIn, just 22% of the AI research jobs worldwide are held by women. It’s even worse at the FANG (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google) companies; women hold just 15% of the AI jobs at Facebook, and at Google, it’s a mere 10%. If we want AI to behave better than humans historically have in the workplace, we’re going to need a diverse community building it. #TheBookCirca2118 #AI #Diversity
